PHP Developer
Build and improve the platform South African businesses use to get found.
About the role
WebScheduler Local is a PHP application that people use to find local businesses, and that business owners use to be found. As a PHP Developer you will build new features and improve existing ones, from the database to the page.
You will work closely with support and sales, so what you build solves real problems for business owners. You will write tests for your work, and help keep the platform fast, secure, accessible and respectful of people's privacy.
You may be a good fit if you:
- Have built and shipped web applications in PHP
- Know MySQL and write careful, efficient queries
- Write HTML and CSS that work well on a phone
- Write tests for what you build
- Care about privacy, security and the details
Strong candidates may also have experience with:
- CodeIgniter 4 or a similar PHP framework
- Tailwind CSS
- Search, maps or geocoding
- Payment integrations, such as PayFast
- South African privacy law (POPIA) in practice
Representative projects:
- Build a faster search for businesses near you, with typeahead and a map
- Add a new section to business profiles, from the database to the owner's edit form
- Improve how profiles look and rank in Google search results
- Make the admin review queues quicker to work through
Logistics:
- Location: Remote, anywhere in South Africa
- Hours: Full time
- Equipment: Your own laptop
- Interview: A conversation, then a short practical task
